Contrary to the 14th Olympic Games in London (1948), Japan was allowed to participate from the very first Asian Games. It was an event of great symbolic meaning for the postwar Japan’s “return to Asia”.\nWhile it is significant to examine the continuities and discontinuities regarding the before and after 1945, this paper especially focuses on Japan and Japanese athletes, to shed light on one continuity which is presented by “outer-land” (gaichi) born athletes.\nOf the 151 athletes competing in all eight events, there was one “outer-land” born athlete each from Taiwan, Manchuria and Korea. Taiwan-born Yuriko Mizoguchi, who competed at age of 19 and won two bronze medals in the shot put and discus, dedicated herself to teaching physical education at her alma mater. Manchuria-born Masao Togami, who also competed at the age of 19 and won a bronze medal in the 200 –meter breaststroke, found success in the distribution industry. Korea-born Hirobumi Ichige, who competed at the age of 21 and won a silver medal in water polo, was not able to qualify for the 16th Melbourne Olympics.\nFollowing Manila, the third Asian Games were held in Tokyo. By tracing the trajectories of these “outer-land” born athletes, this paper will reexamine the positionality of “Japan” between the prewar and postwar periods from different perspectives.","subitem_description_language":"en","subitem_description_type":"Abstract"}]},"item_creator":{"attribute_name":"著者","attribute_type":"creator","attribute_value_mlt":[{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Sugano, Atsushi","creatorNameLang":"en"},{"creatorName":"菅野, 敦志","creatorNameLang":"ja"},{"creatorName":"スガノ, アツシ","creatorNameLang":"ja-Kana"}],"familyNames":[{"familyName":"Sugano","familyNameLang":"en"},{"familyName":"菅野","familyNameLang":"ja"},{"familyName":"スガノ","familyNameLang":"ja-Kana"}],"givenNames":[{"givenName":"Atsushi","givenNameLang":"en"},{"givenName":"敦志","givenNameLang":"ja"},{"givenName":"アツシ","givenNameLang":"ja-Kana"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifier":"14227","nameIdentifierScheme":"WEKO"}]}]},"item_files":{"attribute_name":"ファイル情報","attribute_type":"file","attribute_value_mlt":[{"accessrole":"open_date","date":[{"dateType":"Available","dateValue":"2025-03-10"}],"displaytype":"detail","filename":"共立国際研究42_4sugano.pdf","filesize":[{"value":"3.4 MB"}],"format":"application/pdf","licensetype":"license_11","mimetype":"application/pdf","url":{"url":"https://kyoritsu.repo.nii.ac.jp/record/2000721/files/共立国際研究42_4sugano.pdf"},"version_id":"6d975d9b-62d5-4f3a-9c28-672449b0e2ec"}]},"item_language":{"attribute_name":"言語","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_language":"jpn"}]},"item_resource_type":{"attribute_name":"資源タイプ","attribute_value_mlt":[{"resourcetype":"departmental bulletin paper","resourceuri":"http://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_6501"}]},"item_title":"1954年マニラアジア大会と“外地”生まれの選手たち : 連続性の視座にみる日本のアジア復帰","item_titles":{"attribute_name":"タイトル","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_title":"1954年マニラアジア大会と“外地”生まれの選手たち : 連続性の視座にみる日本のアジア復帰","subitem_title_language":"ja"},{"subitem_title":"The 1954 Manila Asian Games and “Outer-land” Born Athletes : Japan’s Returning to Asia from the Perspective of Continuity","subitem_title_language":"en"}]},"item_type_id":"10002","owner":"17","path":["1740969427800"],"pubdate":{"attribute_name":"PubDate","attribute_value":"2025-03-10"},"publish_date":"2025-03-10","publish_status":"0","recid":"2000721","relation_version_is_last":true,"title":["1954年マニラアジア大会と“外地”生まれの選手たち : 連続性の視座にみる日本のアジア復帰"],"weko_creator_id":"17","weko_shared_id":-1},"updated":"2025-04-03T05:21:31.556694+00:00"}
