| 内容記述 | In 2023, a total of 12 pieces of costumes made in the Edo period were donated to our museum. These are costumes for men and women of the feudal lord class, said to have been handed down by the Matsui family of the Yatsushiro clan of Higo, and are in very good condition. They are also valuable pieces whose origins are believable. Our museum has a relatively large collection of costume for men and women of the feudal lord class, but none of them reveal their origins. The 12 pieces donated this time are thought to be part of a series of costumes handed down by the Matsui family of the Yatsushiro clan held at the Mirainomori Museum of the Yatsushiro Municipal Museum, and by observing these together, we can learn about the actual state of coustume for feudal lords in the late Edo period, which is very important. In this paper, I will first introduce the details of the costumes handed down by the Matsui family of the Yatsushiro clan that was donated, in order of men and women, and then, together with the collection of the Mirainomori Museum of the Yatsushiro Municipal Museum, we will provide an overview of the entire picture of the women's clothing handed down by the Matsui family of the Yatsushiro clan, analyze the contents, and aim to grasp the actual state of the clothing life of feudal lord women in the Edo period. |
