In this study, we applied additive manufacturing (AM) technology to develop materials that mimic the complex microstructures produced by living organisms. The structures formed using 3D printing filaments composited with flexible thermoplastic polyurethane and a water-soluble polymer exhibit a wood-like porous structure and significantly enhanced flexibility.
