| 内容記述 | This study examined the state of clothing items and accessory material of the modern imperial household, which are stored in the Kyoritsu Women’s University Museum. Additionally, we considered the way in which these items were acquired by our university. There are many examples of both Japanese and Western pieces from the second half of the Meiji period through the Showa period in the 1930s. In particular, among the Western pieces, there were several whose wearers are known. In addition to pieces that were made abroad, there were samples believed to have been created domestically. Through these items, we contemplated the meaning of the Western imperial household materials held in this museum. We found that, while ceremonial clothing followed the rules of the court, there was a difference in consideration of popular fashion between imperial family members residing within the court and those living outside the court. We also discovered that the prior owners of these materials were Ms. Nobuko Hara, a graduate of Kyoritsu Women’s Trade School—the forerunner to our university—as well as Yoriko Tsuzaki, a former lady-in-waiting to the empress dowager. |
