内容記述 | Cultural properties can be damaged over the years due to exhibition, improper storage conditions, or aging. The chintz referred to in this report had been folded and stored for a long time, due to limited storage space. As a result, deep creases had formed in the central vertical and horizontal folds, and fine wrinkles over the entire surface, of the chintz. These creases and wrinkles spoiled the beauty of the chintz at the time of exhibition. Moreover, if left as they were, they might cause tears, increasing the level of damage. In addition, the stitches on the hem of the chintz had frayed, resulting in an unstable condition. To solve these problems, we decided to repair the chintz. We humidified the creases and wrinkles to smooth the surface of the chintz. The frayed stitches were fastened with a thread of the same color and material. After the repair, the creases and wrinkles were mostly smoothed and the loose threads were fixed. As a result, the chintz regained its beauty, could be safely exhibited, and could withstand long-term storage while remaining in a stable condition. | |||||||||||||||||||
