| 内容記述 | In this research note, the following points regarding abstract nouns in copular sentences were confirmed based on previous studies. The abstract nouns mentioned here are nouns that can be accompanied by content clauses. There are at least two types of abstract nouns used in copular sentences. One is that the predicate must be “-kotoda” and the other is that the predicate cannot be “-kotoda”. The former abstract nouns can make specificational sentences. Since these abstract nouns can make specificational sentences, they can be the subject or predicate of copular sentences. The latter abstract nouns cannot make specificational sentences, but the content of the abstract nouns can be expressed by the predicate “-toiumonoda”. There are some abstract nouns that can be the predicate after “ga”, even though it is not possible to make specificational sentences as the subject. Previous studies have analyzed sentences containing this special type of abstract nouns from the perspective of discourse function, but other possibilities should be considered. | |||||||||||
