| 内容記述 | In this research note, the following points are discussed based on BCCWJ usage examples. There are three types of abstract nouns that can be a subject of copular sentence of the form “N wa~kotoda”, those that can be a subject of copular sentence of the form “N wa~kotoda” by being limited by modifiers, and those that cannot be a subject of copular sentence of the form “N wa~kotoda”（it is difficult to limit their specific range by modifiers）. The same characteristics can be seen in the predicate “Y wa Z da” in the kaki-ryori construction “X wa Y ga Z da”. The predicate “Y ga Z da” may be considered to retain the meaning of a specificational sentence, but depending on the meaning of “Z”it may be difficult to consider it a specificational sentence. Even if a sentence in the form “~noga N da” could be rewritten as “N wa~kotoda”, the functions the two sentences are different. While “N wa~kotoda” is an inverted specificational sentence, “~ noga N da” is not necessarily a specificaional sentence. The sentence “~ noga N da” with an abstract noun as the predicate has the following points in common with the presentational sentence: “no” is not a formal noun, the subject noun clause cannot be considered as a variable noun phrase, and it is similar to a descriptive sentence. |
